Should one acceptor attempt to overcome the circumstances and conditions of ones existance as they are particularized to the individual?

I found this quote appropriate I think for this day. Its from Dr. Martin Luther King, jr.from his speech "Where Do We Go From Here," August 1967. I find it works for me:

"True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar; it is not haphazard and superficial. It comes to see that the an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring."
